JAKARTA: Pasangan ganda putri Indonesia, Greysia Polii dan Meiliana
Jauhari, syok berat ketika didiskualifikasi Federasi Bulu Tangkis Dunia
(BWF) sehingga gagal bertanding di perempat final Olimpiade 2012 di
Wembley Arena, London, melawan juara Grup A Jung Kyung Eun-Kim Ha Na,
Rabu (1/8) malam. Greysia maupun Meiliana tak menyangka impian mereka
untuk menyumbangkan medali akhirnya kandas.
BWF mengeluarkan keputusan diskualifikasi tersebut lewat rapat Komisi Disiplin BWF. Tak hanya Greysia-Meiliana, wakil Korea Selatan, Ha Jung Eun/Kim Min Jung dan Jung Kyung Eun-Kim Ha Na, serta pasangan China, Wang Xiali/Yu Yang, juga resmi dicoret dari Olimpiade 2012.
Menurut BWF, 4 tim tersebut dikeluarkan dari turnamen karena dinilai melanggar "Code of Conduct" pemain dengan tidak berusaha sebaik mungkin untuk memenangi pertandingan.
Dari tim bulutangkis Indonesia telah mencoba bernegosiasi agar hukuman tersebut dihapus. Sayangnya usaha banding itu ditolak oleh BWF.
